About Us
Illinois Fisher - Helping people catch more fish!

Introduction
Illinois Fisher is a site dedicated to all the people in Illinois looking for information on their
local fisheries. Bass, catfish, crappie, bluegill, carp, Walleye, and all other catchable fish
will be treated the same.
Who is behind this site?
A country boy who is always looking for a good place to fish and some good people to talk
about it with. My name is Jake Hanner and I am from Salem, Illinois. I started fishing long
before I can remember and I now fish as much as possible. When I go on a fishing trip with
friends or family I feel more like a guide to them. Simply put, I spend more time baiting
hooks, rigging lines, locating fish, and fixing birds nests for other people when I go fishing.
I do not have a strong competitive streak so it is very easy for me to help others succeed.
Trips I take -
I go to Minnesota every year mainly to catch monster pike but I must say the bass fishing is
almost as much fun up there. Everyone targets walleye leaving huge bass unharmed.
After spending 2 years in college in Florida I came to love inland saltwater fishing. Now I go
back as much as I can to hook into redfish, flounder, and trout mainly.
Local Favorite Lakes -
I like to challenge myself every year to pick a lake I have never fished and try to figure it
out. In 2007 I spent some time on Borah (Olney) lake and I really enjoyed it. The lake had
low fishing pressure and several hard biting fish to target. My all time true favorite Illinois
lake is Forbes. Most years this lake kicks me in the tail but I still love it. I fish it more often
than any other lake because
1. It is close to my house, and
2. I can always come home with a mess of bluegill if nothing else will bite.
